Overview: Sandhills Emergency Physicians is an independent and democratic group of emergency medicine specialists whose physician members are all board-eligible or board-certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine. In addition to an experienced physician staff, a number of highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practicioners and Physician Assistants serve our patients.
Beginnings: Sandhills Emergency Physicians started as a 5-member physician group in 1991. It provided coverage to Moore Regional Hospital, a well-recognized specialty hospital. SEP has grown with FirstHealth, adding services at first at Montgomery Memorial Hospital, and later at Richmond Memorial Hospital, as these facilities joined FirstHealth. SEP Leadership worked with FirstHealth in the planning and design of Moore Regional Hospital – Hoke Campus, and has staffed the Emergency Department since opening day.
Current: The group has expanded to 32 full- and part-time physicians and 9 Advanced Practice Providers. SEP provides coverage at 4 separate FirstHealth of the Carolinas facilities:
- Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst
- Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham
- Montgomery Memorial Hospital in Troy
- Moore Regional Hospital-Hoke Campus in Raeford
FirstHealth of the Carolinas is a private, not-for-profit, health care network headquartered in Pinehurst and serving 15 counties in the mid-Carolinas.
